In yet another demonstration of his unwavering commitment to human capital development and grassroots empowerment, Hon. Abdulhameed Salawu Ogembe (Dullar), the immediate past Council Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Lagos State, has delivered another remarkable phase of empowerment impacting the lives of 253 beneficiaries across Kogi Central. The beneficiaries were carefully selected from all five local government areas—Okene, Adavi, Okehi, Ajaokuta, and Ogori-Magongo—reflecting a fair and inclusive spread across every clan and community in the district.
This phase of empowerment was powered through a specialised training programme by the National Productivity Centre (NPC), focusing on snail farming—a thriving agribusiness with increasing economic potential. Participants underwent intensive hands-on and practical sessions designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to establish and sustain profitable snail farming ventures.
Upon successful completion of the training, each of the 253 beneficiaries received a cash support package of ₦200,000 each, a deliberate move to help them kick-start their businesses immediately. In addition, giant ovens were distributed to selected individuals to support their entrepreneurial pursuits, further widening the scope of economic empowerment.
Hon. Abdulhameed Salawu Ogembe (Dullar), the facilitator of this impactful initiative, used the occasion to express heartfelt appreciation and loyalty to key leaders who have contributed to the steady development of Kogi State. He applauded the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his visionary leadership and continuous support for empowerment programs. He also paid glowing tribute to the former Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello Adoza, acknowledging him as a true leader whose legacy continues to inspire progress.
Speaking to the beneficiaries, Hon. Abdulhameed Salawu Ogembe encouraged them to make prudent use of the cash support and training received. He urged them to invest wisely, grow sustainable small-scale businesses, and become employers of labour in the near future. He emphasized that the true essence of empowerment lies not just in receiving funds, but in transforming them into productive ventures that will uplift families and communities.
The empowerment program stands as another testament to Hon. Abdulhameed Salawu Ogembe’s passion for community development, youth upliftment, and sustainable economic growth across Kogi Central. His consistency in delivering impactful interventions continues to position him as a dependable leader dedicated to improving livelihoods and strengthening the socio-economic fabric of the region.
